Is Your Tap Dripping, Stiff or Refusing to Shut Off?

A dripping tap rarely stays a small nuisance for long. Worn washers, cracked ceramic discs or a failing cartridge let water escape slowly at first, then more persistently, pushing your water bill higher every quarter it's left unrepaired. In older Salisbury homes, we often find the original tap spindles have simply worn out after years of daily use, while newer mixer taps tend to suffer from cartridge failure instead.

Some tap problems stay hidden until the damage is already done. A wall mixer leaking behind the tiles, a flexi hose weeping under the vanity, or a supply line dripping quietly into a cabinet can rot timber, stain plasterboard or invite mould long before you notice a puddle on the floor. Outdoor taps and garden hose cocks that have seized or cracked over a Brisbane summer can also waste a surprising amount of water if left unattended.

Then there's the tap that won't turn off at all, or one that's become so stiff you're worried about snapping the handle off entirely. Low water pressure at a single outlet, water hammer when a tap shuts, or a leak at the base and handle are all signs the internal components need attention. Left alone, most of these issues get worse and considerably more expensive to put right.
